Event Name:
Help Feed the Hungry @ Food Lifeline
Location: Food Lifeline - Shoreline Volunteer Repack Center
Address: 1702 NE 150th St, Shoreline, WA 98155 (map)
Date: Tue, June 26th    6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Staff:
Manager: Tiffany M (email) (2) Coordinators: Jenna S (email) , Alyssa S (email)
(RSVP)
Description: Each day Food Lifeline receives bulk shipments of edible food that would otherwise go to waste. Through the support of volunteers, Food Lifeline can make this food available to folks who really need it. With the dedication of its volunteers, Food Lifeline is able to repack the bulk donations it receives and provide food to over 300 food banks, shelters and meals programs throughout Western Washington. Projects range from labeling canned goods, to repacking 1500 pound totes of frozen vegetables, to sorting and inspecting donated food products. But whatever the project, it's always fun and rewarding!

Other Info: For safety reasons, all volunteers need to wear solid, closed-toe shoes (no sandals, flip flops, slippers, Uggs, etc). We also recommend that volunteers dress in layers, as it can get a little chilly in our warehouse. Other than that, just dress comfortably and with the knowledge that some of our projects can occasionally get a little messy! Kids 14 and over welcome with adult, and we require a parent consent form for any volunteers under 18. Let us know in the RSVP notes if you are bringing a child. We'll also have Safety Requirements sheets for volunteers to review.

Organization: Food Lifeline

Groups of volunteers can join us at Food Lifeline to repack bulk donations of food and make them available for distribution to local food banks, shelters and meals programs. Teams large and small can come to Food Lifeline to work together on a repack project in our Volunteer Repack Center, providing a great (and team-building!) opportunity for corporate, civic, faith based or school groups to help end hunger in their own community.

Driving: 1) From I-5, take exit #175 for NE 145th St. 2) Go East at the end of the exit onto NE 145th St. 3) Turn left at 15th Ave NE. 4) Turn right at NE 150th St. 5) Turn left at 17th Ave NE. You will enter an old military complex that is now called the Fircrest Campus. 7) Proceed about 1.5 blocks, turning right when you see the Food Lifeline sign and a large, tan building.

Please Note: Parking is available the lot to the right of the driveway, and past the Food Lifeline warehouse on your left. The reception area is located at the front of the building. If you arrive late, the front door will be locked and you'll need to call the Event Manager to be let in. A contact cell phone number is usually posted on the front door, but please be advised that cell phone reception is not the best inside the warehouse.
